BookReader – The First Working eBook Reader in the Store
The first truly-working ePub reader is now in the Store. BookReader truly works with non-DRMed eBooks. The App leverages the full feature of Metro Design Language to bring a pleasurable reading experience to Windows 8 devices unlike some Reader Apps in the Store. Hello Kindle app, I am looking at you!
As mentioned, the only disadvantage here is non-support for DRM. But then, there is enough free ebook resource out there, so you won’t regret this app; and what’s more, its free. Here is the Dev’s description of the App from the Store:

Love this app. Works great. Bought it right away with no regrets. Finished my first book with it last night. Good-bye MobiPocket. Finally a way to read all my ebooks in Win8 properly. I very much recommend this app.
It would be nice to have a library, so that I can browse my books as well as read the e-book metadata. It would be really nice to be able to see the series and series number in the metadata too so I know where a book falls in a series. I like to read books that are part of a series and i’ve not been able to find a decent e-reader for windows that will show me that info. I have to always import them into calibre, just to see which number in a series this book is.
Lets hope the Author of the App will see your comments, and implement it. If I speak to him, I’ll pass your recommendation.
Thank you for your kind words. It feels awesome to see such positive review on the first day after an app release.
No, you should be commended. We’ve been waiting for a decent ePub reader in the Store, up till BookReader release, the rest have been wannabees. Apps that crash or doesn’t display at basic books. Hard work deserves reward. So I hope this feather to your cap will be an incentive to further perfect the App. Maybe monetize it in the future. Keep me updated with your progress. I am here for the Windows 8 Community and Devs alike.
no PDF’s??? any pdf readers? so a lot of books are no good with this because it cant read DRM protected book?
Yes, it wont read Kindle or Sony books for example. But the Internet is full of free eBooks these days. So not bad for now.
good point
PDFs are fully supported by built-in MS Reader app.
As for DRM protected books – circumvention of DRM scheme would be DMCA offense and firing violation of the MS store rules.
Yep, so true. As I have mentioned, there are tons of free eBooks out there, DRMed books are locked in anyway, so if anyone want to read DRMed book, you download the vendor’s client. Kindle is a good example of this.
